Mr. Rooks concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, corporate law, construction litigation, and warehouse legal liability in state and federal courts through his work in the commercial litigation, professional liability, product liability, and warehouse/transportation practice groups at Fisher Kanaris. Mr. Rooks has represented individuals and businesses of various sizes in matters dealing with breach of contract, tort, mechanics’ liens, warehousemen’s liens, warehouse liability, fraud, employment, and statutory causes of action. Mr. Rooks has additionally defended clients in asbestos litigation arising out of the manufacture and distribution of gaskets and insulation materials.

He has successfully litigated matters in favor of his clients by reaching settlement, obtaining judgment by dispositive motion, and by obtaining verdicts for his clients at trial. Additionally, Mr. Rooks has significant appellate experience and has successfully obtained the reversal of the trial court in the First District of Illinois. Mr. Rooks also has experience with alternative dispute resolution, representing clients in arbitration and mediation cases before the American Arbitration Association and JAMS.

Mr. Rooks has advised clients in myriad corporate transactions including negotiation of asset purchase agreements and intellectual property license agreements, defense and prosecution of corporate collection matters, and the set-up of numerous corporations and limited liability companies.

Mr. Rooks has litigated highly contested disputes in the fast-growing area of e-discovery in matters related to data destruction and preservation, spoliation of evidence and forensic examination.

Prior to joining Fisher Kanaris, P.C., Mr. Rooks practiced in a boutique Chicago law firm representing small and medium size corporations and 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations in commercial litigation and general corporate practice.
