Karen C. Mitch | Associate
Ms. Mitch, a degreed structural engineer, concentrates her legal practice in the defense of design professionals. She currently defends professionals in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering and surveying. Past representation included general contractors, sub-contractors, owners and insurance carriers in a variety of construction-related claims.
Prior to joining Fisher Kanaris, P.C., Ms. Mitch worked for an insurance defense firm where she was involved in all phases of complex, high-profile litigation. She has successfully represented product manufacturers, health care professionals and transportation companies in products liability, negligence, wrongful death actions and commercial litigation disputes.
As an engineer, Ms. Mitch worked for an engineering firm specializing in environmental qualification of equipment in the nuclear power industry. She also worked as a design engineer for the manufacturer of light gauge steel products before moving to a structural engineering design firm. Her professional experience includes mechanical and electrical equipment qualification, structural design, preparation of drawings and structural calculations, review of sub-contractor shop drawings, preparation of contract bids and construction observation. Ms. Mitch provided structural designs for both steel and masonry structures, including single family residences, warehouses, hospitals, and multi-story buildings. This experience is an invaluable resource in the representation of design firms.
