MEGAN E. RITENOUR ASSOCIATE
Ms. Ritenour works in Fisher Kanaris’ Property Coverage Group concentrating her practice on insurance coverage litigation involving first-party and bad faith claims. She also has significant experience in large loss commercial property subrogation, product liability, construction law, commercial litigation, and premises liability.
Ms. Ritenour has trial experience in Illinois, Ohio, Nevada, and Tennessee, as well as significant appellate experience and international arbitration experience. Ms. Ritenour has litigated cases all over the country in both state and federal courts, which includes the routine handling of complex first-party property coverage disputes in excess of $10,000,000 and the routine handling of market and excess layer first-party coverage disputes in excess of $50,000,000. In addition, Ms. Ritenour provides legal options to several first-party carriers on a broad range of property and liability insurance issues including: agent/broker activities; all risk; bad faith; builder’s risk; boiler and machinery; business interruption; collapse; installation floater coverages; contamination; fine arts claims; extended coverages; and reinsurance disputes.
Ms. Ritenour also devotes a significant amount of her practice to representing architects in actions alleging professional negligence and to representing contractors in mechanics’ lien actions.
Ms. Ritenour is a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and DePaul University College of Law, where she served on the Executive Board of the National Moot Court Society and was awarded the Order of the Coif. She is admitted to practice in Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois. Ms. Ritenour is active in the children’s ministry of her church.
